Job Description:
PURPOSE OF JOB:
It is the responsibility of the Security Department Associates to maintain a safe, secure environment for Patients, Visitors, Associates, Volunteers and Medical Staff; to enhance communication and provide immediate response to facility needs.
Essential Functions:
Performance of Security job responsibilities is outlined below, in adherence to Policies and Procedures developed by Administration and the Security Department.
Security is protection and prevention; protection of Doylestown Hospital patient rights, Associates, visitors, equipment, supplies and property; prevention through high visibility and professional conduct.
Ability to physically respond to emergency requests and situations anywhere on hospital property, including the MRI Suite, in a timely manner is required.
A Doylestown Hospital Security Officer must be consistently alert, aware of current environment and able to react to any given situation.
The Security Officer will always attempt to prevent the escalation of any situation.
Security Officers are responsible for routine surveillance by means of foot patrol and central monitoring surveillance of the facility.
Interaction with Associates, Medical Staff, Volunteers, Patients, Visitors, Professionals and Trespassers is essential to maintaining safety and security of Doylestown Hospital.
Security officers will demonstrate the highest level of professionalism and ethical standards in the performance of their duties with integrity and to comply with all applicable laws in a manner that excludes considerations of personal advantage or gain.
Security officers will adhere to Doylestown Hospital's Corporate Compliance Plan, and to all rules and regulations of all applicable local, state, and federal agencies and accrediting bodies.
Security will comply with HIPAA privacy rules by only discussing or seeking out information about the status of patients to whom care is being provided with others providing care to that patient, and ensuring such discussion takes place in a confidential setting.
Recognizes the existence of cultural differences and utilizes appropriate resources available throughout the hospital to respond to the needs of the pediatric, adolescent, adult and geriatric patient, family member and/or visitor.

Education:
High School Diploma or equivalent Criminal Justice background, law enforcement related fields preferred B.
Experience:
Sufficient previous experience in security and safety operations Experience in healthcare preferred C.
