_ About the Position The Director of Development is a key member of the Playhouse leadership team, spearheading the organization's growth in contributed income and responsible for the vital success of all fundraising activities.
The Director of Development will plan and implement all fundraising programs, including the annual campaign, individual giving, major gifts, planned giving, cultivation events, sponsorships, foundation, corporate, and government grants.
Reporting to the Managing Director in close partnership with the Producing Director, this is a full-time, exempt position and requires a flexible schedule including some nights and weekends.
Oversight of 2 full-time people and 2 administration support people.
Responsibilities include (but are not limited to):
Plan and implement new and creative strategies to strengthen the annual fundraising programs.
Play a central role in cultivating, soliciting, and closing gifts, including identifying and stewarding prospective donors and new Board members.
Guide the Board of Directors and other volunteers in identifying, cultivating, soliciting and stewarding major gifts.
Prepare Board of Directors for cultivation and solicitation activities and partner with them in the implementation.
Serve as staff liaison to Board teams and committees relevant to fundraising efforts.
Creating budgets, monitoring progress against annual budget, reforecasting budget as necessary.
Build strong relationships with foundation and corporate funders.
Develop a strong show sponsorship program.
Plan and oversee multiple fundraising events including the annual gala which has a $1M goal.
Lead, evaluate, mentor and manage the development staff.
Supervise grant writer and oversee all reporting deadlines and donor updates.
Participate with marketing department to unify branding and messaging.

The check will bounce and the victim is left responsible.
